When you start off with a Trainer, or certainly when you start out here there is one thing that you need to understand... We are not your Cheerleader
We are there to COACH you, SUPPORT you, and push you just a little bit harder than you thought possible. We are not there to cheer you in and give you all the motivation. I love the saying 'You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink'... And it is so true.
You need to have that deep underlying desire to want to achieve greatness, not just fancy the idea of it. Because if you don't realise how important the goal is to you then how do you know how much effort to actual put in?
Well what if you don't even have a goal, how on earth do you intend to know where to go?
Where do I start with goals?
Nutrition and exercise can be confusing subjects. When you first get started, the inital challenge is that you don't know what to do. When you speak to a Trainer knowing what to do is no longer a problem.
However, gaining the 'knowing what to do' is only half the battle. The far greater challenge for most people is applying that knowledge and taking action. There's a big difference between knowing what to do and doing what you know. A goal is the bridge that spans this gap.
5 Reason's to set a goal:
The secret to staying motivated all the time is to set emotionally charged goals, commit them to writing, and stay focused on those goals day and night. A goal with a purpose is the fuel that propels you forward. You might think you're in total conscious control of your body but really it's your subconscious that controls everything.
I base goals around these 3 topics:
Now these goals have to be SPECIFIC, as you can see I haven't written:
Be specific, know what you want, and then when you know that figure out [with a trainer] how to get there!!
For example with Aisling [below] she said to me "I want to be beach body ready and feel more comfortable in my bikini" - well do you think she hit that?
This took us 6 months to get to where she is now and she is killing it!! We knew where we wanted to go and then we figured out how we were going to get there.
So remember the 3 principles for goals...
Once you have those 3 then you can follow the exact same process that Aisling followed by joining the Less Fat More Muscle sessions and feel sexier, happier, and more slender in weeks.
