The lovely people of Benchmark are at it again giving you '9 ways to be more prepared' with your food...
1. spare 15 minutes per day
"Spend 15 minutes a day preparing something that will make tomorrow more successful."
2. Part roast veggies
"Part roast a tray of veggies at the weekend so they only take 20 mins to bake when you get home from work instead of 45"
"Don't underestimate planning. 15 minutes on a Sunday to plan your week in food will keep you on track so much better. It's taken me a while to really get it but planning is everything"
4. cook in bulk
"Cook massive batches then freeze portions so when you get to the end of the month and have no money all your meals are ready in the freezer"
5. purchase a slow cooker
"Slow cooker recipes, Bung it all in leave all day on slow"
6. shopping list
"Use a shopping list, and on the list, write out each nights meal with the relevant things to buy so you know you've got everything you need in advance."
7. buy meat in bulk
"Buying meat packs and filling your freezer!!! Lasts us 2 and a half months then get what ever veggies you like each week"
8. have healthy snacks AVAILABLE
"Keep some healthy/nutritious snacks in for those moments when you need something 'now'. It's better than eating convenience/processed food and more satisfying."
9. a 'go to' meal or snack
"Always have a to go to meal you can purchase when you get caught hungry and are out without a plan. In a restaurant mine is steak and salad. From the shops it's an apple and tub of cottage cheese ( stops me buying sandwiches or crisps!)"
